What to Look for in a Wedding Venue

wedding venue

Many people will often say that their wedding is the most important day of their life. A big part of that day is the venue; whether that’s for the ceremony, reception, or both. You want to book somewhere that fits in with what you and your partner want, but that also is somewhere that your guests will love and will be talking about regarding your wedding for many years to come.

Capacity

Capacity is one of the key areas to consider when looking at wedding venues. It doesn’t matter how much you love a venue, if they don’t have the capacity to host you, your partner, and all your family and friends, there’s no point in booking it. Even if you think you can whittle your guest list down, just so you can fit everyone in the venue, if you are going to be unhappy or feel guilty that some people aren’t going to be able to come to your wedding just so you can get a certain venue, it may be best to look elsewhere so those people can still attend.

Fitting with the Theme

Not many people recognize this, but your wedding venue fitting in with your theme is also incredibly important. For example, if you want quite a modern wedding that feels bright and open, it’s not much good to hire a venue that has an old-fashioned feel to it. Getting a venue that fits your theme and you as a couple is key to making your big day come together nicely.

Friendly Staff

A venue that has staff that is friendly from the moment you go to view your venue to the moment your big day comes to an end is important. Not only will this make your experience of planning your wedding a whole lot easier, but it will also make your guests feel more at ease throughout the day. A good wedding reception venue will have staff who only want the best for you and are happy to cater to your every need. A good way to check this is to look at the reviews online, as most of these will have something about the stuff on there, so if there appear to be any complaints about staff behavior, such as rudeness, it may be best to stay away from the venue, no matter how much that itself seems to suit what you want.

Catering

One of the main parts of your wedding day is the food and drink. Some venues will have catering fully available, whereas others will require you to look elsewhere. This is something to bear in mind, particularly when it comes down to the cost. Look at the cost difference when looking at venues that supply catering, versus venues that don’t supply catering. For some venues, the cost of them providing catering makes it cheaper, although this isn’t always the case, so it’s worth double checking with the venue before you book.

Entertainment

All good weddings will have some form of entertainment on show. If you have anything specific you want for your entertainment, it’s always worth checking with the venue whether this is something they will be happy to have. For example, it is becoming increasingly popular to have fireworks at your reception and if this is something you want at your wedding and the venue doesn’t allow this, it may be best to look elsewhere.

Final Thoughts

Your wedding venue should be everything you have always wanted it to be. If they cannot cater for your every need, no matter what the overall look of the venue is, it may be best to look elsewhere.
